Low Cost Therapy
We at Healing Moments Counseling believe in making therapy assessable.
Therefore, we provide low-cost therapy offered by clinical interns.
Our clinical interns are currently enrolled in a masters program studying to be a therapist. Each clinical intern will be supervised by their school, by Nika Gannon and/or Kimberly Castelo.
Clinical interns can offer a wide range of services including:
Couples Therapy
Individual Therapy
Sex Therapy
Family Therapy
Teen Therapy
Fees for our interns are $60 an hour.
Please note, interns cannot create superbills and their services are not covered by insurance.
FAQ
Why isn't working with a clinical intern covered by insurance?
Insurance companies typically do not cover services provided by clinical interns. Our lower-cost therapy is offered by skilled and dedicated clinical interns who are in the final stages of their graduate training. Because they have not yet met the licensure requirements set by insurers, their services aren’t eligible for reimbursement.
That said, all of our clinical interns receive close supervision from experienced, licensed clinicians to ensure high-quality, ethical, and supportive care throughout your therapy experience.
What kinds of issues can clinical interns help me with?
Our clinical interns can address a range of concerns including: relationship and sexual dynamics, family of origin, trauma, communication, self esteem, and life transitions.
Clinical interns are skilled and dedicated to their work, and due to their level of training, they are not able to meet needs of clients who are experiencing: acute distress in the areas of active self-harm and suicidal ideation, acute psychiatric symptoms, problematic substance use, interpersonal violence, and mistreatment of children and vulnerable adults.
What happens when they graduate from their program? Will I have to find a new therapist?
Our clinical interns are committed to supporting clients not only during their time at Healing Moments Counseling, but also through a thoughtful transition when their internship ends. They will let you know in advance how long they’ll be in their role, and as their term nears completion, they’ll work with you to plan next steps in your care.
This may include a warm referral to another therapist – either within Healing Moments Counseling or in the wider community – as well as any other appropriate supportive services. Some clients also choose to continue working with their intern therapist after graduation. In those cases, therapy will pause temporarily while the therapist obtains licensure and begins seeing clients in their next professional setting.
At Healing Moments Counseling, we prioritize our clients’ wellbeing and honor their autonomy. We support whatever path feels right for you and continued growth and healing.
