Meet Vanessa Ortiz

Hi, I'm Vanessa

(she/her)

I am a Couples and Family Therapy Intern, currently studying at Antioch University Seattle. As a queer, cisgender woman who is neurodivergent and of Mexican American and Filipino heritage, I understand that our identities shape the way we experience the world. I strive to create a warm space where people of all identities feel seen, heard, and respected. My practice is culturally responsive, trauma informed, and LGBTQIA+, gender, and neurodiversity-affirming.

As a mother of two daughters, I understand many of the joys and complexities of family life. My interests are parenting, caregiver and neurodivergent burnout, and the unique dynamics of neurodiverse families. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that honors your strengths while creating space for healing, growth, and meaningful change. I am passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and families.

My spiritual beliefs are influenced by Buddhism and Hinduism. While I do not bring my spiritual beliefs into the therapy room, they inform my commitment to compassion, mindfulness, and the understanding that we are deeply interconnected—with one another, our communities, and the world around us.

Client Reviews

Kim brings a listening ear and so much wisdom as she counsels. You can dump your stuff and she’s not phased by it. She’s a great partner in the healing process. We could all use another counseling session with Kim!
