Meet Tamara Walker
Hi, I'm Tamara
(she/her)
I am a relational and individual counseling intern working toward licensure in Washington State. I believe connection — real, empathic, unhurried connection — is at the heart of healing. Using a person-centered approach, I trust that you carry all the wisdom and strength you need to find your own way. I hope to offer you a warm, curious space where you feel genuinely seen, without judgment, where we can learn and grow together. Adults of all genders, sexualities, racial or ethnic backgrounds, abilities, relationship structures, or religious affiliations are welcome.
Before becoming a therapist, my deep love for the natural world and the bond between people and animals led me into practice as a veterinary surgeon in an emergency and critical care hospital. I also discovered what secondary trauma, moral injury, and empathic distress feel like inside a demanding profession. I carry that understanding into my work now and especially love supporting medical and veterinary professionals, along with anyone carrying the weight of work-related psychological trauma.
My clinical orientation draws on Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), along with Depth Psychology—I hold an MA in Jungian and Archetypal Depth Psychology (2019) and remain fascinated by dreams. I’m a proudly LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming therapist and I appreciate Feminist Theory and Relational Cultural Therapy as theoretical guides toward multicultural, socially just counseling practices.
Fun facts: I love to watch birds and whales, sea kayak with my partner, walk in the rain, and swap dream stories with close friends. I’m not very good at either, but watercolor painting and playing the frame drum are two of my favorite ways to recharge. Whether in winter grey, or summer sun, I never miss a chance to curl up on the couch with a good non-fiction book and my three cats.

Kim brings a listening ear and so much wisdom as she counsels. You can dump your stuff and she’s not phased by it. She’s a great partner in the healing process. We could all use another counseling session with Kim!
